Echo Conference

Right now the Echo conference is going on in Texas, which is a conference for church creatives and media type.  There’s a great quote/post by the guy who runs the Church Marketing Sucks site referring to our love for media:

Lovers of media, technology and the Internet are not necessarily the first people I would go to hear or see more about the greatest love story of all time.

My concern is that what we love is getting blurred with who we love.

This is so true. We can easily let the things we’re doing for God or the things that we are passionate about become what we love more than God Himself.

Sunday Summary – 7.12.2009

Well, another truly amazing Sunday.  I have to admit, I am sometimes cynical when Alan asks me to “leave the baptistry open” for a Sunday.  I don’t doubt that God can move, but with a stage setup and everything, its just one more unplanned thing for timing, layout, etc.  I know… salvations… what an inconvenience! :)   Our opener included You’ll Come (our CD opener and a personal fav lyrically for a call to worship).  We then did “Standing Up For Nothing” by Derek Webb as a special.  There was definitely a special moment at the end of the song for prayer, but it got stomped on with the way the service order went. Lesson learned: don’t put a video directly after a music special that may be reflective.

The rest of the set rounded out quite nicely, with Lead Me To the Cross as our communion song, and then went into Always.  This went well… and lead our baptism time.  We will have to find a way for our singers to know what is going on during baptisms, since they can never see if baptisms have begun.  This lead to a bit of awkwardness for the band during those songs. Oh well. You learn.  We rounded our our set with Everlasting God and Mighty to Save. We did our traditional tag at the end of mighty to save with the end part of The Stand.

All in all, a great morning. God was glorified… people worshipped… solid.

Control Drum Volumes

Are the drums to loud? I know we struggle with this at Cumberland. Here’s are some suggested remedies to help get those drums quieter.

Welcome

Welcome to the new Cumberland Community Church production site. As you can see, we are moving towards a more centralized place or volunteers, information, and more. This site will not only house the production blog which will include both media we produce as well as interested other links from around the web and creative world. We will also flesh out the training and volunteer sections, offering resources for such as instruction manuals, videos, etc for those wanting to learn more in their volunteer positions as well as link to volunteer forms and sites we use, such as Planning Center. We look forward to this place being a great community to grow together as the creative teams within Cumberland!
